Namco Bandai Games America announced three new Dragonball games at E3 today: Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans, Dragon Ball: Raging Blast and Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo. Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans is exclusive to the DS, Dragon Ball: Raging Blast is for PS3 and Xbox 360 and Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo is exclusive to the Wii. All three games will be released in North America sometime this fall.
Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans is an all new Dragon Ball Z adventure featuring Goku and friends as they confront the Saiyan threat. In addition to taking place within the Dragon Ball Z Saiyans storyline, Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans will feature alternate storylines which offer a new understanding of the Dragon Ball universe.
The game is a turn-based Dragon Ball Z experience that features a three character party system where players can choose from Goku, Kid Gohan, Piccolo, Krillin, Yamcha and Tien. The game also features a team combo attack system that allows players to combine party members’ super martial art attack to inflict massive damage onto enemies. Each party member will feature character specific Ki Blast abilities which will be used to solve puzzles and unlock secrets in the game. Finally, there’s a sub-mission mode where players collect special items, including the legendary Dragon Balls, throughout the world to rescue innocent victims, right injustices, and create general global harmony.
Dragon Ball: Raging Blast features completely destructible environments and HD graphics that lend a deeper layer of immersion to the Dragon Ball universe. Developed by SPIKE, Dragon Ball: Raging Blast offers 70 characters (including transformations), the ability to relieve important battles from the TV series as their favorite heroes and villains and experience alternate universe moments that were left out of the original anime and manga series.
New interactive and destructible environments added to the battle as characters take massive damage from being smashed into mountains, buildings and debris during battles – and some of this will be because of someone executing a powerful signature move. On top of classic signature moves, characters also benefit from a new “Super Rising” special attack system which allows players to quickly fly upwards throughout open battle stages, adding a new layer of strategy and tactics to the melee.
Finally there’s Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo, a game that goes back to the beginning of the manga and anime series. Players relive the genesis of the Dragon Ball saga with Kid Goku as he travels the world delivering martial arts justice on his road to self discovery, tail wagging gently behind him.
The game promises a faithful adaption of the original storyline with its unique comical charm and adventurous overtones. Taking place during the Red Ribbon encounters, players will assist Kid Goku as he journeys through his path of personal evolution battling beasts, bandits and martial arts masters. Kid Goku will meet and befriend lifelong comrades and overcome formidable evil miscreants, including Red Ribbon Army, Emperor Pilaf, and King Piccolo.
Fights are handled by waggling the Wii remote in various ways; with a simple move of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, Goku fires off intricate combos, initiates classic moves, and executes his signature Kamehameha ultimate attack. The game also incorporates pseudo RPG elements which enable Goku to earn money to purchase power-up items throughout the game. Other features include in-game collectables, unlockable characters and modes and much more.
Look for all three Dragonball games this fall.
